Skitmaker Cute Abiola Responds to Police’s Threat of Investigation and Possible Prosecution Over His Skits

Nigerian skit maker and actor, Abdulgafar Abiola, popularly known as Cute Abiola, has responded to the Nigerian police’s threat of potential prosecution over his skits.
The comedian shared a video on his social media pages, where he humorously portrayed a police officer, satirizing the issue of bribery within the Nigerian police force.
In reaction to the video, the Nigerian Police Force expressed their intent to investigate and possibly prosecute him for allegedly desecrating the police force’s uniform.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejoba, Cute Abiola is accused of violating Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law.
Section 251 stipulates that anyone who is not a member of the armed or police forces of Nigeria and wears the uniform or any dress resembling it in a manner that could bring contempt to the uniform is guilty of a simple offense. The penalty for such an offense includes imprisonment for three months or a fine of forty nairas.
The police emphasized that Cute Abiola’s actions are not only offensive but also undermine the integrity and dignity of the men and women who wear the police uniform in service to the nation.
