New Minister Adelabu Reveals Cartels, Cabals Working Against Success Of Power Sector

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, has revealed the prominent presence of cartels and cabals within Nigeria’s power sector. However, he assured that these challenges would be addressed professionally.
Adelabu made these statements at a reception organized in his honor by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, stating that these factors hinder the sector’s optimal performance.
During the event, Adelabu acknowledged the power sector’s crucial role in the country’s economic growth and noted that its underperformance has led to significant criticism from end-users.
He stressed the importance of resolving the challenges facing the sector, as it affects both the manufacturing sector, including Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs, and households, which depend on electricity for their economic survival
Acknowledging the influence of cartels and cabals obstructing the sector’s progress, Adelabu pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, to ensure his successful tenure as Minister of Power. He emphasized the need to put aside political differences and work unitedly for the greater good.
Adelabu pointed out that his appointment carries the potential for both success and failure, and that his performance will be evident to all. He urged support from all quarters to achieve success in his ambitious role.
Adelabu also expressed his readiness to collaborate with Governor Seyi Makinde at the state level to bring about positive changes in Oyo State. He commended Engineer Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, for contributing to rural electrification efforts by donating transformers to various communities in the state.
Barrister Niyi Ajewole, President of CCII, welcomed Adelabu’s appointment as Minister of Power and urged him to create employment opportunities for the people of Ibadanland. He encouraged Adelabu to collaborate with Governor Makinde in improving power supply in the state.
Engineer Sanusi also acknowledged the challenges facing the minister and reminded him of his responsibility to the entire nation. He emphasized that both success and failure would be shared collectively and offered his support and constructive criticism to aid Adelabu’s efforts to positively impact the power sector.
