PDP demands thorough investigation of alleged bribery of Tribunal judges in Zamfara

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State has spoken out against the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) purported plot to sway the electoral petition tribunal’s (ECT) unrevealed verdict in favor of the APC.
Acting PDP State Chairman Mukhtar Muhammad Lugga, speaking to reporters in Gusau, claimed that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was plotting to make the state unruly.
The State APC has been threatening all ruling party functions in the state. He claimed that the APC does not want calm to prevail throughout the state.
To begin impeachment proceedings against Governor Dauda Lawal, Lugga claimed the former governor intended to bribe and influence members of the state House of Assembly.
Similarly, “Anas Anka was making damning allegations on the judiciary,” specifically against the judges of the state electoral tribunal, who he said were enticed to deliver advance ruling in favor of APC.
The Chairman expressed regret that his party was alerting the authorities to the latest development in order to prevent a potential collapse of peace and order and to defend the integrity of the judiciary, which has been called into question due to the leaked recording.
“We have instructed our attorneys to file an appeal without delay in the expectation that the judicial system will seize the opportunity to remedy any miscarriage of justice that may have occurred for reasons that have thus far gone unnoticed.”
Lugga, who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Lawal, claimed that his party has requested that the National Judicial Council, NJC conduct a thorough inquiry into Anas Anka’s charges of corruption inside the Tribunal’s judicial system.
The Acting Chairman of the State PDP has also asked the DSS to question the Managing Editor of the online Thunder Blowers about the unannounced rulings he claims to have on the pending governorship and State House of Assembly petitions.
Former governor Abdulaziz Yari was also urged by the party to quickly vindicate himself after being implicated in a series of bribery, financial inducement, and corruption scandals by investigative journalist Anas Anka.
