Tragic IED explosion claims lives of six almajiris in Borno state

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in Gubio local government area of Borno State resulted in the tragic death of six Quranic school pupils, commonly known as Almajiri in Hausa parlance.

According to Vanguard, the incident occurred yesterday when a metal scavenger unknowingly collected and stored various metallic items in a building close to a Tsangaya school.

The collected metal was an abandoned undetonated IED, which exploded at approximately 2 pm.

The blast claimed the lives of six children attending the Quranic school, causing severe bodily harm.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from security agencies on the incident were unsuccessful, but a security source confirmed the deadly blast.
