El-Rufai visits ex-Military Head of State Yakubu Gowon amid speculations of defection

Former Governor of Kaduna State and prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasir El-Rufai recently visited former military Head of State Yakubu Gowon, sparking further speculation about his political future.
The meeting between El-Rufai and Gowon follows his recent engagements with leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which fuelled speculations about a potential defection from the APC to the SDP.

El-Rufai had been engaged in crucial meetings with SDP stakeholders, including a gathering at Senator Abubakar Gada’s Abuja residence.
SDP chairman Shehu Musa Gabam and other party leaders were in attendance.
The series of meetings attended by El-Rufai continues to fuel speculations about his next political move.
Recall that Daniel Bwala, an ex-Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, recently alleged that El-Rufai will be defecting to the SDP, alongside the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
