Court orders Aminu Ado Bayero to stop parading himself as Emir of Kano

A court has ordered Aminu Ado Bayero to stop parading himself as the Emir of Kano and asked police to eject him from Nassarawa royal residence.

The development was confirmed in a post made by a popular journalist and publisher of Daily Nigerian, Jaafar Jaafar on his Facebook page.

This comes against an earlier order of a federal high court sitting in Kano which stopped the State government from scrapping the emirates created by ex-governor, Abdullahi Ganduja and reinstating Sanusi Lamido as governor.

Recall that Governor Abba Yusuf had assented to the repeal of the Kano Emirates Council Law amended by the state house of assembly and announced the reinstatement of Mr Sanusi as the new emir.

The new law repealed the 2019 law signed by former governor of the state Abdullahi Ganduje that created five emirates in the state.

However, while other emirs complied, Aminu Ado Bayero refused citing the court order which annulled his dethronement.

The issue led to protests on Sunday where supporters of Aminu Bayero were seen asking the government to obey the court order.
