Emir Sanusi Told To Vacate Kano Palace Immediately
The Forum of Chiefs in Nigeria has strongly called the reinstated Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to immediately vacate the Kano Emir’s Palace, as directed by the Federal High Court
In response to the court order, the Forum of Chiefs, represented by its President, Ameh Adaji, and Secretary General, Danladi Etsu, emphasized the importance of respecting the law and the will of the people. They asserted, “A king cannot reign without the people’s support, and illegally occupying a palace is unacceptable anywhere in the world.”
Expressing concerns over potential unrest, the chiefs urged Sanusi to avoid actions that could lead to embarrassment or violence. They called on him to uphold the principles of law and order, stating, “As a former custodian of culture and tradition, Sanusi should lead by example.”

The Forum’s statement read, “His insistence on occupying the palace despite the court order is not only a violation of the law of the land but also a mockery of the revered ancient throne of Kano. Sanusi should prioritize the peace of the state above self-aggrandizement.”
Addressing Sanusi’s role as a former Emir, the chiefs urged him to accept the court’s decision and relinquish his claim to the throne. They emphasized, “As a Muslim, Sanusi should know that it is only God that gives and takes power.”
Concerns were raised about the potential for unrest in Kano, with the chiefs warning against undermining the rule of law. They called upon the authorities to ensure peace and stability in the state.
The chiefs appealed to the people of Kano to remain law-abiding and united in the face of challenges, emphasizing the importance of maintaining order in Nigeria’s most populous state.
