We’re Determined To Fulfill Promises Of Good Governance – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has said his administration is undeterred by challenges to fulfill promises of good governance to Rivers people.

Governor Fubara stated this while speaking to newsmen after inspecting the ongoing reconstruction and expansion work at the Zonal Hospital, Bori on Friday.

The Governor who was conducted round the facility by the Hon Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, said the visit is to ascertain the level of work done on the project, and assured that his administration will live up to its decision to resuscitate all abandoned secondary health facilities in different parts of the state to effectively cater for the health needs of the people.

He said his government is moving on to ensure that it continues to provide what is needed for the benefit of the people and development of the State despite challenges.

“What we are doing is to inspect the Zonal Hospital which is under construction and expansion. If you can remember I promised our people that one of the most important areas of our budget for the year 2024 is healthcare, education and agriculture.”

“As part of what we promised our people in the year 2024 that we will do our best to ensure Zonal Hospitals are functional. When we met them they were in a bad state, there were no accommodations for the medical officers. We did not just add the accommodations, but also mortuary facility to have a full trapping of an hospital.”

“I believe that by next week we shall be visiting Degema, Ahoada, Omoku and also the main one. You know we promised to build a modern General Hospital and upgrade the Psychiatric Hospital. We shall also visit them and see the extent of work ongoing there.”

He expressed satisfaction with the work done by the Contractors at the Zonal Hospital, Bori, promising that the project will be completed and put to use not just by the people of Khana or Gokana local government areas alone, but other LGAs in the zone which includes Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area.

“Let me say that I am really impressed. The contractors are really committed. They understand the dreams and aspirations of this administration, that when we make promises, we keep to them.”he concluded.
