SILGA council Boss, Hon. Target Present The 2024 Appropriation Bill Christened Budget Of Sustainable Development To The Council Legislative Assembly

***calls for support from the legislature, executive (arms), and the people to ensure optimal implementation.
The Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Hon. Target Segibo today presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill christened “Budget of Sustainable Development” with premium placement on infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security, and water supply across the rural communities.

The budget has an estimated total of eight billion, nine hundred and eighty-two million, six hundred and twenty-four thousand, seven hundred and one naira, seven kobo (#8,982,624,701.07).
The sum of six billion, fifty-six million, five hundred thousand naira (#6,056,500,000.00) representing 67.40% was earmarked for capital expenditure while two billion, seven hundred and thirty-four million, eight hundred and two thousand, seven hundred and twenty-three naira, thirty-six kobo (#2,734,802,723.36) representing 30.44% as recurrent expenditure.
Mr Chairman said that the fiscal document is significant and critical in its provisions as it is initiating further gains for the maximum democratic and socio-economic development of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
He said that under his administration, the Southern Ijaw Local Government Council will create indices and break grounds across the sectors of development with growth inclusiveness. Of particular interest, Mr Chairman outlined the recent data on healthcare delivery, poverty rate, unemployment, workers welfare, and fiscal management as critical demonstration of his administration’s strategic plan to achieve the needed expansion of the area’s socio-economic realities.
Hon. Target Segibo finally stressed the need for collaboration. He opined that the budget can only be implemented maximally with the support of key operators such as the legislative and executive arms and the people of Southern Ijaw.
Some key stakeholders of Council present at the event were Dr. (Mrs Akandi Josephine Ekeuwei, Vice Chairperson, Mr Charles Ebidei, Political Secretary, Hon. Oyinkuro Kime, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr Olotu Daclean Diete, Director of Admin and General Services (DAGS), amongst others too numerous to mention.
