Violence Erupts On Day 4 Of Hunger Protests In Lagos

What seems to be a peaceful protest on the fourth day of the #Endbadgovernance protest at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos State, turned violent yesterday, as hoodlums attacked and dispersed the protesters.
The crisis began around 10.30am when a lawyer identified as JP, urged the protesters to leave the park, cit – ing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent national address as the reason.
However, a faction led by 70-year-old Adegboyega Adeniji of Peace Action Transformation, refused to back down, insisting on continuing with the protest. The police intervened, attempting to persuade the remaining protesters to disperse.
But moments later, a group of individuals emerged from across the street and began chasing the protesters away.
By 11.30am, the situation had spiralled out of control as the anti-protesters returned, forcing all protesters to flee.
The sudden escalation of violence marred what had been a peaceful demonstration all along, leaving many visibly disturbed and shaken.
