Gov Aliyu Resort to community support to end banditry in Sokoto LG

Gov Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto has called on communities in Gudu Local Government Area to assist the authorities with relevant information, especially intelligence gathering, to defeat armed bandits terrorising the area.
The governor gave the charge on Friday while addressing the people of the area who came out en masse to receive him on a thank-you visit to the area.
“Let me call you my people in Gudu, pls try and cooperate with us, give the security agencies information so as able to tackle the banditry disturbing us”.
He explained that securing the area is a collective responsibility, hence the need for all hands to be on deck.
The governor renewed the commitment of his administration to make the state safe and secure.
Gov. Aliyu also pledged to renovate the Balle General Hospital which has been facing serious dilapidation.
“I have directed the immediate renovation of the Balle Health facility so that our people will continue to enjoy the services provided by the facility.
“I have equally directed the installation of 250 powered street lights across the Gudu Local Government Area,” he added.
According to him, the state government has already awarded the contracts for the renovation of Tangaza to Gudu Road to ensure easy access to several communities living along the road.
Also speaking in his remarks, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko called on the people of the area to continue to support APC so that they can enjoy more dividends of democracy.
Wamakko, a former governor of the state and leader of the APC in the state, also commended the leadership style of Gov. Aliyu, which, according to him, has resulted in the massive transformation of the state.
Earlier, the Gudu Local Government Sole Administrator, Umar Mai-Kano Balle, commended Gov. Aliyu for giving security in the area the attention it deserves.
“Sir, we, the people of Gudu, are really appreciative of the special attention you are giving this area any time we confront you with issues relating to security,” he added.
The sole administrator also assured the governor of their continued support at all times.
