AGAIN: Edo State Commissioner Faces Allegations of Payslip Concealment Amidst Dubious Wage Increase Claims

A fresh scandal has surfaced involving Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, the Edo State Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology. Accusations have emerged that Isibor has been actively concealing doctors’ payslips following claims by the Edo State Government of a wage increase for all workers.

Insiders reveal that Dr. Ovenseri, a prominent medical professional, threatened to expose the discrepancies in the government’s assertion of a ₦70,000 minimum wage. Contrary to these claims, new evidence suggests that salaries for doctors and other state employees have not been raised, highlighting a significant neglect of the workforce’s needs.

This controversy casts a shadow over Governor Obaseki’s much-touted health sector reforms, which critics argue are merely part of a broader pattern of governmental deceit. The reforms, akin to the governor’s numerous ineffective Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), appear to benefit consultants and close allies, such as Asue Ighodalo, rather than delivering tangible improvements to the state’s health system.

Further complicating matters, Isibor was previously implicated in a leaked WhatsApp conversation where he allegedly advocated for a propaganda campaign against opposition forces. His focus on political maneuvering over meaningful progress has drawn criticism during his tenure.

This situation raises serious concerns about the government’s commitment to transparency and the integrity of its worker compensation practices. The attempt to hide payslips undermines the administration’s promises of accountability and timely payment of salaries.

The APC has pointed to these revelations as further evidence of the Obaseki administration’s failures, calling for a leadership change and genuine reforms to truly serve the people of Edo State.
