PDP, APC, Labour Party stakeholders endorse Senator Nwoko’s pursuit of Anioma state
Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), opposition All Progressive Congress and Labour Party weekend endorsed Senator Ned Nwoko’s bill in continuation of pursuit for the creation of Anioma state.
Members of the three parties were present during the Anioma Stakeholders summit held at Grand Hotels and Resort Asaba on Saturday. Labour Party member of House of Representatives, Ngozi Okolie, representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency with his supporters personally spoke endorsing the bill for the creation of Anioma state.
Okolie, who won the House of Reps seat through a landslide, said he is given his 100 percent support for the creation of Anioma state, praying that by the grace of God, the objective would be speedily realised.
Dr. Leroy Edozien, a staunch member of the All Progressive Congress with members of the party in Delta North also participated in the summit. Edozien was optimistic that the state would be created with the vigorous pursuit of Nwoko.
He said Anioma land has a population that is higher than some countries in the world, insisting that Anioma which is Delta North has what it takes to be a prosperous state.
He said the struggle for the creation of Anioma state is the oldest state creation movement in Nigeria. He said the move has been ongoing for the past 70 years, adding that Senator Nwoko had acknowledged that he was not the originator of the movement but is determined to complete the struggle.
He revealed that in the past, it was agreed that Anioma state should be part of south eastern Nigeria. He noted that late Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, joined his fathers to champion the cause for the creation of Anioma state.
He called on Anioma sons and daughters to forget the buts and support the bill for the creation of the state, adding “when we get the state, then we sit down and iron out the buts.”
Ossai Nicholas Ossai, a former member of the House of Representatives for Ndokwa/Ukwuani, said Anioma state will bring development to the area. He insisted that “whether it is added to South east or South South, we need Anioma state.”
“I have told my followers that we have to support the creation of Anioma state. I have reached out to people in the presidential villa and they said they are in support of Senator Ned Nwoko. I’m here to support the move. I will do everything possible to ensure Anioma state is created.
“I hereby move a vote of confidence on Senator Ned Nwoko. Between now and December we will start seeing projects of Ned Nwoko in Delta North.”
