Edo Guber: Court Disqualifies APC Candidate
A Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja has disqualified the candidate of the APC for the September 21 Edo State Governorship Election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for age falsification and forgery.
The court in a judgement delivered by Magistrate Abubakar Mukhtar, the APC candidate was accused of forging the documents he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission he to aid his qualification for the governorship election.
The magistrate said Okpebholo committed a criminal offence, adding that the situation was unfair to other contestants in the race.
The judgement paper, a copy obtained by Osun Defender read, “Upon hearing from Counsel to the complainant and upon the reading of the affidavit in support of the 29 paragraphs deposed to by the defendants, hereby grants the order as prayed, to the wit:
“The first defendant ought not to be in the governorship race because he supplied false and forged documents to the third defendant to aid his qualification for the governorship election. This is a criminal offence and unfair to other contestants in the race. The first defendant stands disqualified.
“AN ORDER stopping the first defendant from taking part in the said governorship election.”
