Gov. Diri receives Defence Headquarters Joint Monitoring Team On Crude Oil Theft

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today received the Defence Headquarters Joint Monitoring Team on Crude Oil theft and pipeline vandalism at Government House, Yenagoa.

The team was in Yenagoa to seek collaboration with the state government on ways to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism in Bayelsa State.

“First, you have already alluded to the fact that Bayelsa State is very important to this team and Nigeria as far as oil production is concerned.

For us in Bayelsa State, our lives begin with oil and gas. Bayelsa is the state that put Nigeria in the map of oil producing countries.

From our end, we have also set up a team to curb oil theft and pipeline vandalism in Bayelsa State. The team included our Local Government council Chairmen, Security coordinators and other stakeholders.

I can assure you of our support. We will work with you to ensure our production is shored up and our environment is not polluted”, Gov. Diri said.

The leader of the team, Maj. General Jamiu Jimoh said the joint monitoring team plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of oil and gas activities in Nigeria.

Others at the meeting include, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Security, Hon. Bernard Kenebai, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimobofa Ayawei, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Irorodamie Komonibo, Commissioners, State coordinator of the community safety Corp, Brig. General Eric Angaye Rtd, Special Advisers on Security and other government officials.
