Gov. Diri Not To Blame For Months Of Power Outage In Bayelsa, Says PYC
***Commends the Prosperity administration for initiating the Eleremor/Age Road and other massive infrastructural projects across the state.
The Prosperity Youths Coalition (PYC) has reacted to the lingering electricity issue and the attendant economic effects on Bayelsans and businesses in the state.
The very vocal group headed by the Youths Governor Snr.Comr. Doubara Kumokou, called for calm as Bayelsans especially residents of the Yenagoa metropolis expressed their anguish occassioned by the prolonged power outage following the vandalisation of several electricity transmission towers.
The PYC cleared that they have dived to the root of the matter and spoken with relevant players and can now assure all Bayelsans that Gov. Douye Diri is not to blame for the darkness that has now run into months, and urged everyone must trust that the Diri led Prosperity administration is never sleeping on its oars and working round the clock to aid the TCN and PHED to fix the vandalised assets and get them back to working conditions as soon as possible.
The group made this conclusion after coming to the realization that prior to the signing into law of the Electricity Amendment Act(2024) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in February this year, Electricity was placed on the exclusive list, preventing the various states government from making much impact in the electricity sector. Thanks to that Amendment, Bayelsa State under the able leadership of our amiable governor has now began the process for the generation and distribution of electricity within the state via the establishment of a state owned Gas Turbine, even as efforts are made at the moment to restore power through reconnection to the national grid, in the interim.
The Chief Scribe of the PYC Barr. Igbeta Ayebakuro stated in an interview that he can confidently assure all Bayelsans that His Excellency the Miracle Governor has not had a moment of sleep as he is worried much more than everyone else as the continued power outage is counter productive to his efforts at marketing the state as a fertile ground for investment and businesses to thrive.
Igbeta added that issues like these are what have been prompting the PYC to preach the message against criminality including vandalism of critical national assets, and all Bayelsans must join forces with government to end the madness, for as long as we harbor and encourage the few who benefit from from these nefarious activities, the general public pays the price in some way that hurts.
The PYC scribe went on to hip praises on Gov. Douye Diri for now initiating the much talked about Ekeremor/Age road project, a move that strengthens the citing of the deep sea port at Age with the vision of opening up the state to international scale commerce and industry.
Igbeta further commended the governor for his zeal to intentionally turning around the fortunes of the state by investing in jaw dropping projects like the Nembe/Brass road, and the Oporoma road projects that not only open up the inter lands to better inter connectivity and to greater economic integration, but also promises to reposition the state as one of the preferred tourism destinations in Nigeria. This vision, the PYC urged all Bayelsans to own and support the administration to achieve this giant strides.
