Nigerian Army flags off operation Python Dance in Ondo state

The chief of army staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has declared that the army is ready to drastically reduce kidnappings and other violent crimes in parts of the country.

Buratai made the resolve on Thursday, January 3, when 32 artillery brigade in Owo, Ondo state flagged-off of Operation Egwu Eke 111, otherwise known as Python Dance, TVC News reports.

The army chief who was represented General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of Nigerian Army, Major-General Okwudili Azinta, said the military would do everything possible to flush-out kidnappers in Ondo state.

The army chief also raised concerns over the influx of arms and training of political thugs by some politicians, ahead of the general election.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has issued a directive to troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole to take the war to the enclaves of the Boko Haram insurgents and flush out what is left of their number.

In line with this directive too, the acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and commander, sector 1 of the Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, charged troops under him to redouble their efforts with renewed vigour, gallantry and doggedness in the fight against insurgency and terrorism in the theatre.

TrackNews learnt that to achieve this, the commander, 28 Task Force Brigade Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Mohammed Usman further charged troops of 117 Task Force Battalion (Bn) to be proactive and committed in the fight.
