George Akume Deny Being Behind Media Attack on Gov. Alia

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has denied allegations of orchestrating media attacks on Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia.
The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum had accused Akume of undermining Alia, warning that such actions could hurt the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Sunday, the forum’s Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, condemned the continued media attacks on Governor Alia, expressing concerns that these attacks aimed to destabilize the APC in Benue State and the North-Central region.
The forum warned that if Akume’s actions continued, Governor Alia might follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Samuel Ortom, who left the APC for the PDP.
Responding to the allegations, the SGF’s spokesperson, Terrence Kuanum, stated, “There is no iota of truth in the claim that the SGF is behind media attacks on the Benue Governor, Hyacinth Alia.”
Kuanum accused the forum of attempting to tarnish Akume’s image, adding that the SGF remained focused on his mandate and continued to provide strong leadership for the APC.
