An Open Appeal To The Gov. Of Bayelsa State, Sen. Diri Douye Regarding The Removal Of My Prominent Billboard On Azikoro Road, Near Ekeki Park.

I wish to congratulate Your Excellency on the remarkable 5th anniversary of your administration and the significant developmental strides being implemented in Bayelsa.
As a licensed advertising practitioner in Bayelsa State, registered with the Bayelsa State Physical Planning Board, I humbly plead with Your Excellency regarding the proposed removal of my billboard at Azikoro by Ekeki Park.
This billboard was installed with the consent and approval of the Bayelsa State Physical Planning Board, and its aim was to enhance the beauty and provide a serene environment in that area for the sole purpose of advertising.
This billboard is not just a source of income for my family, but it also serves as a vital means of communication for our community, generating revenue for the Ekeki community and the state government on a monthly and yearly basis.
Every requirement and standard from the Bayelsa State Physical Planning Board was met before the installation of the board, and due inspection was conducted by the Bayelsa State Physical Planning Board during the installation of the foundation and framework.
As a small business owner, I have invested significant time, money, and effort into creating a successful enterprise that benefits our local economy. The billboard plays a crucial role in promoting our business and attracting customers. Removing it would severely impact our livelihood and jeopardize the well-being of my family.
Furthermore, the billboard has become an integral part of our community’s landscape. It provides valuable information, supports local events, and showcases the beauty of our state. Removing it would not only harm my business but also deprive our community of a cherished landmark.
In our quest to attract multinationals and other reputable companies to advertise in Bayelsa State, the standard of billboards we install matters greatly.
Such billboards can be seen in other states across the nation, even in the FCT, enhancing the beauty of the environment.
I urge you to reconsider the removal of my billboard and explore alternative solutions that balance the needs of our community with the state’s interests. I would be more than happy to discuss this matter further and find a mutually beneficial resolution.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Miebi Ziriki (ARPA)
