Former Delta PDP Chairman Accused of Abandoning Abraka-Obiaruku Road Project

An indigene of Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Michael Imonioro, has accused the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Kingsley Esiso, of abandoning the construction of the Abraka-Obiaruku expressway.
Imonioro made the accusation in a Facebook post on Tuesday, alleging that the Delta State government had awarded the road contract to Esiso. He claimed that after initial work began, the project was abandoned over a month ago, leaving residents and road users to suffer.
He stated that little progress had been made on the road, and its current state was causing hardship for pedestrians, transporters, and motorcycle riders in the area. He added that dust from the uncompleted construction was making life difficult for those living nearby.
According to Imonioro, his investigations revealed that the construction company handling the project is owned by Chief Esiso. He also alleged that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) had originally planned to execute the road construction before the Delta State government took over the project. However, with the contract now in Esiso’s hands, he claimed that work had come to a halt.
Imonioro called on Esiso to resume work immediately and complete the abandoned section of the road, particularly from the NUT area to the Abraka main junction. He pointed out that the billboard at the site clearly identified Esiso as the contractor responsible for the project.
He expressed frustration over what he described as continued neglect of his community, Oruarivie Abraka, by the state government. He urged authorities to intervene and ensure that the project was completed to ease the suffering of residents and road users.
Efforts to reach Esiso for his response were unsuccessful. Calls placed to his mobile phone were not answered, and a text message sent to him remained unanswered at the time of this report.
