Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has warned the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) against using beneficiaries of the N-power programmes as ad hoc staff during the forthcoming general elections.

The governor claimed that the N-power list was dominated by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and using them as staff during the election will enable the opposition party to rig.

He made this statement at the Omagwa in Ikwerre local government area on Monday, January 20, while speaking at a PDP campaign rally, The Punch reports.

He said: โ€œI hear INEC wants to use N-power personnel as ad hoc staff for the elections. This is a ploy to rig the elections. N-power personnel will not be allowed to serve as INEC ad hoc staff in Rivers state. If you bring them, we will chase them away.”

The governor also accused the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration of destroying the country’s economy.

He said: โ€œThe mass unemployment across the country is due to the emergence of (President Muhammadu) Buhari. All Nigerians should share in the blame for their suffering. We took our future and mandate and handed them over to people who donโ€™t understand job creation.โ€
