***Urges the Federal Government to Permanent theAppointment .
TRACKING>>The Chairman Bayelsa state Council of Traditional rulers, a Foremost Elder Statesman, the first Military Administrator of the then old Rivers State His Royal Majesty King (Dr.) Alfred Papareye Diete-Spiff Amanyanabo of Twon Brass Kingdom, paid a courtesy/ Solidarity visit on the Acting managing Director /Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) today.
In a statement made available to TrackNews by the Special Adviser Media/Publicity to the MD Barr.Igbeta Ayebakuro said, the respected King during his visit encouraged the Acting managing Director to remain resolved in his desire to bring about the much desired change in he NDDC, as he (Prof. Brambaifa) has all it takes in experience, expertise and technical know-how to inspire the overhauling of the entire Commission for positive and greater productivity and fine-tune it to meet the desired expectations and yearnings that informed the setting up of the Commission.
King Alfred Diete-Spiff remarked that he had no doubt in the competence and zeal of the MD/CEO who he has known for a very long time to be a man of integrity, uprightness and genuine love for the people and affairs of the Niger Delta region, and the search for an Administrator for the Commission couldn’t have produced a more capable person for the job.
Addressing newsmen after the visit, King Alfred Diete-Spiff urged the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government to start going about correcting the wrongs of the past by initiating the necessary legislative framework that ensures stability in the polity, stating that the first step in that direction is to confirm Prof. Nelson Brambaifa as the substantive MD of the Commission, as he has since his appointment proven to be worthy of the position and attracted a wide range of support/commendations from both within and outside the Niger Delta.
The NDDC MD/CEO used the opportunity to call on the people of the region and Nigerians as a whole to remain steadfast in their desire to make for a Nation they can be proud to leave behind for the generations yet unborn, this he said can only be done if people come out enmass to exercise their franchise on election days, in the same vein encouraged the masses not to be discouraged by the postponement of the elections, as it may serve as a test of the nation’s resolve to get it right this time around, and if postponement of the election is strong enough excuse to keep anyone from voting on the 23rd of February, then in his words “such a person never meant well for Nigeria, we as Nigerians must accept every challenge as surmountable, if not for anything, for the sake of leaving a better Nation for our children than our parents left for us, which we can only accomplish by being ready and willing to cast our votes, and by voting the right candidates not for party sentiments, not for stipends or as a favour to overlords, but for the sake of our lives and for the lives of the children we are bringing into the world, remember election is about vote and not fight”
