CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, has stated that kidnapping cases in Nigeria are often more complicated than many people think.
In an interview with Arise TV, Hundeyin said that a person may be kidnapped in Edo State, but the people calling to demand ransom may be speaking from another state like Kogi or Kwara. He stated that this makes tracking the crîmînals harder. He said that in Kogi State, some bandits who were recently arrested were found with walkie-talkies.
Hundeyin stated that the bandits were using these devices to communicate in real time and also monitor the movements of security agencies.
In Hundeyin’s words: “I don’t want to go into too many technicalities but we often encounter some of these challenges. In Kogi some of these bandits that were arrested were found with walkie-talkies, like they were communicating real time and were observing the security agencies too”
