Residents of Delta North Senatorial District expressed renewed optimism on Monday as Senator Prince Ned Nwoko praised Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for flagging off the construction of a flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state. The senator described the project as a major milestone that reflects the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development and regional growth.
The commendation followed the official groundbreaking ceremony of the Agbor flyover, which attracted government officials, community leaders, and residents from across the district. The project is expected to address long-standing traffic challenges in the area and improve road safety along one of the busiest corridors in Delta North.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Delta North, Senator Nwoko said the governor’s visit to Agbor was both timely and symbolic. He noted that the commencement of the flyover project marked a clear step in the state’s broader transformation agenda and demonstrated the administration’s responsiveness to the needs of the people.
According to the senator, the flyover represents a significant intervention that goes beyond physical infrastructure. He stated that the project would help save lives by reducing accidents, ease persistent traffic congestion, and enhance the movement of people and goods within the district and beyond.
Nwoko explained that Agbor serves as a major gateway linking several parts of Delta State with neighbouring states. He said the volume of traffic passing through the area daily had made congestion and road accidents a recurring challenge, stressing that the flyover would provide a long-term solution to these problems.
He added that improved traffic flow would also have a positive impact on economic activities. By reducing delays and improving accessibility, the project is expected to support local businesses, attract investors, and strengthen commercial activities across Delta North.
The senator described the flyover as a strategic investment in public safety, urban efficiency, and economic development. He said the project would contribute to creating a more business-friendly environment while improving the overall quality of life for residents of the district.
Senator Nwoko also commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to infrastructural renewal across the state. He expressed confidence that other critical projects of regional importance would be delivered under the current administration.
In particular, he voiced optimism about the Okpai Power Plant Step-Down Project and the completion of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam. He said both projects are essential to addressing power and water supply challenges in Delta North and would play a key role in supporting sustainable development.
According to him, reliable electricity and access to clean water remain fundamental to economic growth, public health, and improved living standards. He noted that the timely completion of these projects would further enhance the developmental impact of the state government’s initiatives in the district.
The senator described the governor’s presence at the groundbreaking ceremony as a strong reassurance that Delta North remains a priority in the state’s development plans. He reaffirmed his readiness to continue working closely with the state government to ensure that projects that benefit the people are initiated and completed.
Nwoko also called for unity and cooperation among political leaders, community stakeholders, and residents. He stressed that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort, shared vision, and mutual support between government and the people.
He urged residents to continue to support the state government and contractors handling the project, noting that community cooperation would be critical to the successful and timely completion of the flyover.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, youth leaders, senior government officials, and residents who welcomed the project as a landmark intervention. Many described the flyover as a sign of accelerated development and a new chapter for infrastructure growth in Delta North.
For residents of Agbor and surrounding communities, the project has raised expectations of safer roads, improved connectivity, and expanded economic opportunities. The flyover is widely seen as a symbol of renewed hope and a practical response to long-standing infrastructural needs in the senatorial district.
