COVID-19 Lockdown: Shehu Sani urges military to treat Nigerians in a more civil way

TRACKING___Former member of the nation’s upper legislative House, the Senate, representing Kaduna State, Senator Shehu Sani has condemned a viral video alleged to be that of the Nigerian Military harassing Nigerians while implementing the COVID-19 stay at home order.

Sani appealed to security agents to stop harassing poor people on the streets while enforcing lockdown orders.

The activist on his Twitter page, wrote: “To our overzealous security agents; Stop whipping the poor people in the streets because of COVID-19, since you couldn’t whip those from the Airports.”

Sani added that until a vaccine is provided for COVID-19 the measures being taken by the Federal Government is superficial.

“Until a vaccine for the virus is discovered, mass-produced and distributed globally, any measure taken now is superficial.

“When you lockdown, you slow the spread, when you lift the lockdown, it continues from where it stopped,” Sani tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters on Thursday,urged the general public to disregard the torture videos being circulated on social media.

Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, in a statement on Thursday, said that the videos were planted in order to tarnish the image of the Military.
