On The Occasion Of Senator Douye Diri’s 100 Days In Office As Governor Of Bayelsa State!
Encomiums has began to pour in on Senator Douye Diri
TRACKING____As he marks his administration 100 days in office as Governor of Bayelsa State, that started on the 14th of February 2020 to date, making it 100 days since he assume office as the Chief Security Officer of the ‘Glory of all Lands’.
Many are they in Bayelsa State, who have found trust, and have decided to keep faith with the Governor following the sense of direction which his administration seems to be taking, since he took the mantle of leadership of the State.
There is an adage that said, “a man that will do well in life, will be known from his childhood days,” that is how Governor Douye Diri is emerging; showing us that he has more to offer Bayelsans, as it can be seen within his hundred days as Governor of Bayelsa State.
But to be candid, Bayelsans have been awed by the performance of Senator Douye Diri in the last hundred days as Governor of Bayelsa State. Why, he has done some needful project and moves, that have indeed endeared the Governor to the people of Bayelsa State.
One, he reduced the State owned Niger Delta University school fees from a whopping sum of money amounting to #120,000 to #50,000 within his first one month in office. Two, he commence the payment of backlog of salary arrears owed civil servants by the preceding administration. Three, civil servants are now paid on the 28th of each month as against what was obtained in last dispensation were civil servants gets their salaries at the middle of the next month. Four, pensioners too who have retired for more than ten years ago, and who the State Government have not been able to pay their statutory gratuities have been cleared by Senator Douye Diri within the Governor’s hundred days in office Governor of Bayelsa State.
In terms of infrastructural development, the Governor seem to be taking it one step at a time, in carrying out any meaningful developmental projects at the moment, but the Governor had already make the move to start infrastructural development within the State capital by demolishing illegal structures around the sites in the State capital were he want to develop.
As it stands, the popular Etegwe-Tombia-Edepie roundabout axis that connects to many areas of Bayelsa State, has been cleared of all illegal structures preceding the construction of a befitting roundabout and subsequent flyover.
The same thing goes to the Swali Ultra Modern market, were illegal structures and unhealthy clustering of pedestrians, marketers and motorists has given the environment an eyesore appearance, and the alarming thing about the Swali market is that, the market is situated at the tail end of the Bayelsa State Business District that housed many influential organizational buildings and tourist locations. Hence the urgent demolition of all illegal structures by the Governor to pave way for a befitting structures around the market environment.
The Governor whose administration coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, has equally received ample praises from Bayelsans over his steadfast manner with which he has been handling the pandemic so far.
The miracle Governor as he prefers to be called, his creating a legitimate niche for himself and the people of Bayelsa State with the way he has started his government is quite encouraging, and it is hope that he will end well.
