Report: Obaseki to declare for PDP in Benin on Friday
TRACKING____The long awaited formal defection of Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is set to place Friday at the party’s Secretariat in Benin, the state capital.
Leaders and supporters of the PDP had thronged the Secretariat on the busy First East Circular Road, Benin City Thursday in expectation of Obaseki’s arrival for his formal declaration when suddenly they were informed that the event has been shifted till Friday.
South South National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Chief Emmanuel, confirmed the development Thursday in Benin.
He also confirmed that the party’s governorship primaries originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been shifted to next week Tuesday.
It will be recalled that eggheads of the PDP have for days been engaged in extensive deliberations and negotiations with Obaseki and top aides of his government ahead of his much speculated defection which has kept many guessing across the state.
Details and terms of the negotiations could not be ascertained as at the time of this report.
