Makurdi โ€“ Six serving House of Representatives members loyal to Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume have lost their bids for APC return tickets in Benue State.

The lawmakers were defeated in the APC primaries by candidates aligned with Governor Hyacinth Alia, marking a major shift in the stateโ€™s party power balance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The outcome reflects the deepening rift within the Benue APC.

Akume had said part of the recent reconciliation agreement with Governor Alia included automatic tickets for all serving APC lawmakers.

Alia countered that the partyโ€™s national leadership has ruled out automatic tickets, calling it โ€œa prayer, not a resolution.โ€

The losses underscore how the Alia-Akume feud is reshaping APC ticket allocation in Benue.

Several lawmakers had openly aligned with Akume, while only a few were firmly with the governor.

Exact names of the six defeated Reps and vote margins have not been released by the party.
