Passengers escape as vehicle catches fire on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway
TRACKING___About 12 people escaped possible injuries on Friday at the Toyota end of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway after a bus in which they were travelling caught fire in the middle of the road.
The vehicle, according to eyewitnesses, said was conveying passengers to Oshodi when the driver asked the people to alight.
“I think the driver perceived that the vehicle had issues after it started bringing out smokes and asked the people to come down,” an eyewitness named Fatai told The Guardian.
Fatai said the driver and everyone in the vehicle left it in the road after the smoke increased and it consequently caught fire.
Our correspondent gathered that the fire incident caused traffic along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway for vehicles heading towards Oshodi.
Traders at the Ladipo market nearby pumped water from a confectionary factory close to the scene of the incident to put out the fire.
A bit of normalcy has returned to the road as at the time of filing this report after the vehicle had stopped burning.
