Yenagoa, July 2, 2026 – The Secretary-General of the Bayelsa State Centre for Youth Development, Barr. Ayebakuro Igbeta, Ph.D., has commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), His Royal Highness Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for what he described as his outstanding leadership and unprecedented infrastructural development across Bayelsa State.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, Igbeta praised Ogbuku’s administration for its deliberate and people-oriented approach to development, noting that the recent flag-off of several feeder and link roads under the NDDC Emergency Intervention Scheme has brought renewed hope to communities across the state.

According to him, the projects have attracted widespread commendation from beneficiaries and stakeholders, describing the NDDC under Ogbuku as “one of the best things that has happened to Bayelsa State.”

Igbeta, who is also an aspirant for the office of Secretary-General of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, highlighted several achievements recorded by the commission under Ogbuku’s leadership, including the Light Up the Niger Delta Initiative, construction and rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, corps members’ lodges, town halls, staff quarters, solar-powered water projects, as well as youth empowerment and skills acquisition programmes.

He further applauded the NDDC boss for ensuring an equitable distribution of projects across the three senatorial districts of Bayelsa State, describing the effort as a significant complement to the developmental agenda of Governor Douye Diri’s administration.

“His Royal Highness Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has demonstrated humility, competence, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. His leadership style has distinguished him, and if destiny permits, he possesses the capacity to contribute even more to the future development of Bayelsa State,” Igbeta stated.

Speaking on the state’s political future, Igbeta stressed that the priority should remain supporting Governor Douye Diri to complete his tenure successfully and consolidate the achievements of the Prosperity Administration.

However, he urged the governor to give serious consideration to competent leaders from Bayelsa East whenever discussions on succession eventually arise.

According to him, individuals such as Dr. Ogbuku have demonstrated exceptional leadership, proven capacity, and commitment to public service, making them worthy of consideration when the time comes to determine who will sustain the state’s developmental momentum.

He added that the people of Bayelsa East remain committed to the politics of development and are prepared to build on the solid foundation laid by Governor Diri.

Igbeta concluded by encouraging Dr. Ogbuku to remain focused on delivering quality service while praying that Governor Douye Diri would be guided by justice, wisdom, and merit when the time comes to make decisions concerning the state’s future leadership.
