Hon. Fred Obua Visits Communities And Infrastructures Ravaged By Flood In Ogbia Federal Constituency Of Bayelsa State

Hon. Fred Azibapu OBUA (FNIQS), Member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Information and National Orientation, Sunday, 1st November, 2020; visited Ogbia Communities and Infrastructures ravaged by Flood.
Speaking at the site of the caved-in portion/Bridge along Yenagoa-Imiringi Road, Hon. Obua stated that on getting the distress call following the occurrence of the incident, he immediately contacted the Bayelsa State Government, Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency to individually or collectively rescue the situation.
The Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, who thanked Gov. Douye Diri for the Prosperity Government’s timely remedial intervention, promised to continually engage the Federal Government for a permanent solution.
Conducting the Ogbia Federal Lawmaker round the damaged section, Engineer Bonny disclosed that the route will become passable for vehicles in few days time.
Speaking at Elebele-Ogbia Waterfront, Hon. Obua who was received by the Obanema, HRH David Oseni-Oseni and members of the Community, stated that he revisited to empathize with the People and formally present 13-seater blue manual ferry boat and ancilliary Kits, hinted that the reconstruction of the collapsed Elebele Bridge is being budgeted for by Government in the ensuing financial year.
Earlier, in his remarks, the President of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council, Comr. Napuru Bassuo, commended Hon. Obua for providing effective representation, urging him to continuously impress on the Niger Delta Development Commission to heed to the Resolution reached by the House mandating the NDDC to do the needful in line with the Motion moved by him and adopted by the House.
In his royal remarks, HRH Oseni-Oseni, eulogized Hon. Obua’s people-oriented representation and responsive leadership, adding that the feedback received from him is reasuring and that the donated items will be put to good use.
Highpoint of the formal presentation of the boat and gadgets was the to and fro ferrying of Hon. Obua, HRH Oseni and host of others.
At Otuoke/Onuebum Flooded area, Hon. Obua who walked through the Flood when been conducted round by Hon. Kogiaman Ibhe, the Councillor representing Ogbia Ward 13, lamented over the devastating effect of the Flood in the Federal Constituency, calling on emergency and Ecological Management Agencies to come to the aid of the People, advising that a hang over bridge could be constructed to make the road passable even during Flood season.
Hon. Obua, who was accompanied on the tour by well-meaning Ogbia Sons and Daughters, commended his Constituents for conquering the Flood, pointing out that he is more armed and inspired to take up developmental issues with relevant agencies for the good of all Ogbia People irrespective of sectional interests and affilitional considerations.
Hon. Obua advocated and emphasised the need for the Construction of befitting roads and other infrastructure in Ogbia Federal Constituency, noting that Ogbia contributes greatly to the Treasury of the State and Country, reiterating that he will not rest on his oars till Ogbia gets her fair share of the dividends of democracy
