JUST IN: 18 Protesters Arrested At Lekki Toll Gate (Photos)

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended no fewer than 18 protesters at the Lekki toll gate on Saturday.
Confirming the arrest, one of the coordinators of the protest, Kunle Ajayi, told the PUNCH that the youths were arrested and are about to be taken to an unknown location.
“Police have just arrested 10 protesters – Four ladies and six guys. They were beaten mercilessly and injured,” he said.
In a video, one of the arrested protesters said, “We have been arrested. Over 10 of us. We are kept in a Black Maria stationed at the toll gate now.”
Thus development is coming after the federal government, Lagos state government, and the Police had warned the protesters against carrying out a protest at the toll gate.
The government and the police urged the protesters to have a rethink and shelve the protests. But the youths, under the aegis of #EndSARS Season 2 and #OccupyLekkiTollgate, vowed to defy the government’s order.
It was learned that the other group, #DefendLagos withdrew from the protest, noting that it was obeying the government’s directives that no protest should hold.
However, the #EndSARS Season 2 and #OccupyLekkiTollgate protesters defied the government’s directives and stormed the venue of the protest.
The youths said their action was informed by the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry allowing the Lekki Concession Company to reopen the Lekki tollgate.
