Assassination attempt on Ugandan Minister kills daughter, security detail

TRACKING____An assassination attempt on Uganda’s transport minister, General Edward Katumba Wamala has left his daughter and bodyguard dead.
A government spokesman, Chris Baryomunsi said Wamala who was a chief of the defence forces, was shot on Tuesday in an attack that left his daughter and bodyguard dead.
Baryomunsi said Wamala narrowly escaped the attack with bullet wounds and is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.
“There was an attempt on Wamala’s life this morning.
“His daughter and bodyguard were shot and they died at the scene.
“General Katumba has been rushed to hospital with bullet wounds and he is receiving treatment, the crime scene has been taken over by the investigators,” he said.
He further revealed that the attack was carried out by criminal elements and that efforts are being made to fish them out and find out the motive behind the attack.
“This could be a case of assassination by criminal elements but the investigations will establish the motive and those behind the attack,” he added.
