Aisha Buhari to receive Pitch Award
First Lady Dr. Aisha Buhari tops the list of high ranking personalities to be honoured at the forthcoming famous Nigeria Pitch Awards, even as organisers hinted yesterday the 8th edition of the foremost football award is tentatively fixed for March 26, 2022.
This much was the kernel of the address by the President of the Nigeria Pitch Awards Shina Philips at a luncheon for the awards’ college of voters in Lagos yesterday.
Philips said the luncheon which was first of its kind since the awards were instituted in 2013, was just a modest way of appreciating the college of voters made up of eminent sport media personalities.
He disclosed that major highlight of the 8th Award ceremony will include the presentation of Special Achievement in Sports Award to her Excellency , Dr. Aisha Buhari, the First Lady for the successful hosting of the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tournament.
Others to be honoured at the event include the Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba Usman as well as former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi and NFF President Amaju Pinnick for their various contributions to the game at one point or the other.
Thanking the awards’ college of voters and the accounting firm, SIAO partners for standing with Matchmakers over the years, Philips said the forthcoming edition is going to be grand , adding the voting process for the 8th edition would soon get underway.
