Declare Bandits Federal Civil Servants – Shehu Sani Mocks Buhari

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has mocked the Muhammadu Buhari government for refusing to declare bandits as terrorists.
Tracknews Online reports that the National Assembly, the 36 Speakers of State Houses of Assembly and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state have asked President Buhari to tag bandits as terrorists in response to their vicious reign of terror in the North West.
Speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Defence, Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi said that the delay in declaring bandits as terrorists is due to the need to follow due processes.
The defence minister maintained that until the process is completed before such a declaration can be made by the government.
But on Sunday, two persons were killed and many worshippers were abducted during an attack by bandits on a Baptist Church in Kakau Daji, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Confirming the sad incident, the President of the Kaduna Baptist Convention, Ishaya Jangado, said the attack happened during Sunday service.
Jangado stated that the bandits surrounded the church and ensured that all the exits were covered before they launched an attack on the church.
He disclosed that two worshippers were killed by the criminals who started shooting sporadically, while a yet to be ascertained number of church members were also kidnapped.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Joseph Hayab, condemned that attack on the church.
The CAN official stated that the attack shows another sad story of how deteriorating insecurity in Nigeria has become.
Reacting to the latest incident on his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Sani condemned the attack on the church and the abduction of many worshippers during Sunday service.
The PDP chieftain described the killing of two worshippers and the kidnap of many others as tragic and unfortunate, saying that the suspension of the telecom services in the North is useless.
The former lawmaker lamented that the bandits are killing people regardless of religion and place of worship in the North West.
He wrote: “Yesterday’s attacks on the Baptist Church Kakau Daji, Kaduna state by terrorists, the killing of some worshippers and the abductions of scores of others is tragic and unfortunate. The suspension of the telecom services in the North is useless.
“They killed Muslim worshipers in their mosques in Niger and Katsina state; they killed Christians in their Churches in Kaduna state; if the Government doesn’t want to declare them terrorists, it should declare them federal civil servants.”
