APC chairmanship: Ali Modu Sheriff optimistic of victory
Ahead of the convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a leading chairmanship aspirant of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said he would surely emerge victorious, despite the campaign of calumny against his aspiration.
The former Governor of Borno State assured that he would work amicably with APC governors and party chieftains, irrespective of their religious and ethnic affiliations, if he became the chairman.
Sheriff, who spoke via the head of the Media Directorate of his Campaign Organisation, Senator Victor Lar, urged his supporters to ignore a purported leaked audio message aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
“Sheriff is in the race for the APC national chairmanship because he wants to take the party to the highest level, and to build on the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He will never be in opposition to APC governors, who are the party’s leaders in their respective states, because he has great regards for them and cannot work for the opposition PDP,” he said.
He enjoined a serving senator and his cohorts behind the campaign of calumny not to drag President Muhammadu Buhari and APC leadership into his ambition, but should rather engage himself in more fruitful venture and be focused.
