Abia federal lawmaker, Sam Onuigbo congratulates MOUAU

The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South federal Constituency of Abia state at the House of Representatives, Hon Sam Onuigbo has congratulated the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike led by Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe on the occasion of its 10th convocation ceremony holding tomorrow November 27, 2021.

Onuigbo also congratulated all the 6609 graduands and distinguished personalities receiving honorary degrees in the 10th convocation event of the institution.

In a statement issued to journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the federal lawmaker welcomed visitors for the ceremony, to the university which according to him, is not only situated in his constituency but also in his local government area Ikwuano.

According to him, “you shall arrive safely, experience the experience the warm hospitality which my people are famed for and return safely to your destinations”

Meanwhile, the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) will graduate a total of Six Thousand Six Hundred and Nine (6609) students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels during her forthcoming Convocation Ceremony.

The University will also confer honorary degrees on four distinguished personalities.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen on the activities lined up for the Institution’s 10th Convocation Ceremony slated for Saturday.

While speaking to newsmen, the VC stated that apart from the 6609 students to be graduated during the convocation ceremony, the University will confer four distinguished Nigerians with the honorary degrees of the University.

According to the MOUAU Vice-Chancellor, the conferment of honorary degrees is a recognition and honour to accomplished persons that truly deserve them.

Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe at the news conference reeled out the achievements of his administration since he marked his 100 days in office as Vice-Chancellor.

These include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) for the clearing of over 400 hectares of land for agricultural research and demonstration purposes among others
