The federal government has released the names and pictures of some of the inmates who escaped from custody after the attack on the facility of Jos Correctional Center in Plateau State.
It will be recalled as earlier reported by www.tracknews.ng that gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the facility on Sunday.
Speaking on the incident, the controller of corrections (PRO) of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Francis Enobore said the attackers opened fire on the security operatives guarding the correctional centre before they gained entrance.
In an update on Monday, Enobore disclosed that nine inmates died and six others were injured during the gun duel between the attackers and Armed Squad officers of the service.
The Service spokesman also revealed that apart from one of the attackers who was killed, an official of the Service lost his life in the encounter while another officer was severely injured.
He, however, said that ten fleeing inmates that escaped from the facility have been recaptured, adding that 252 inmates are still on the run.
On Wednesday, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) released the names and photographs of some 51 inmates who are part of the 252 persons who recently escaped from a facility in Jos, the Plateau capital.
