Breaking: Immigration Releases Ex-Gov Odili’s Seized Passport

The legal adviser of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Jimoh Abdulkadir Adamu has finally bowed to a court order to release the passport of former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili.

Odili’s passport which was confiscated on alleged order of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was released to him in his Abuja residence.
Adamu on had Monday had submitted a motion confirming the release of the passport directly to Odili at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
However, Adamu is set to appear before the court on accusations of “professional misconduct” filed against him by the former governor.
The lawyer was summoned by Justice Iyang Eden Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to appear before him to defend his role in the refusal of NIS to release the passport.
According to Daily Post, the motion and affidavit of compliance, confirming the release of the passport has been served on Odili’s lawyer, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Odili personally signed a document acknowledging receipt of the passport from the NIS legal adviser.
