Uproar As Suspected Killer Of UNIJOS Student Suddenly Goes ‘Dumb’ In Court, Lawyer Claims He Has Mental Problems
Moses Oko, the suspected killer of 300level UNIJOS student, Jennifer Anthony has reportedly gone dumb in court.
Recall that Tracknews.ng earlier reported that Anthony was last seen with the killer who is also believed to be her boyfriend.
Oko was arraigned before the Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice S. P. Gang.
The accused spoke with his counsel and parents before the trial began but when he was called to the witness box he refused to speak nor move and suddenly went dumb.
He was helped to the witness box by the correctional officer that brought him to court.
Tracknews.ng learnt that when he was asked by the court clerk if he preferred the English language or Hausa language he refused to respond.
The counsel to the defendant N. E Jesse (Esq) later explained that the accused has been exhibiting signs of mental instability.
“It appears the weight of charges slammed on him is too heavy for him to bear and as a result has developed imbalanced mental conditions.”
Reacting to Jesse’s claims, the prosecutor Muleng Alex told the court that the defendant’s medical records stated otherwise, noting that he spoke fluently with his counsel in English language before he was called to the witness box.
Hon. Justice Gang adjourned the case to the 3rd and 4th of March, 2022, for hearing.
