A Party That Can’t Hold Convention, Can’t Rule Nigeria – Wike Mocks APC

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has mocked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over its inability to hold a National Convention yet despite many attempts.
The Governor said the APC lacks the capacity to put its house in order and it reflects in its inability to manage the challenges facing the country and its people.
Tracknews reports Wike made the submission on Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo State capital at a special grand reception organized to celebrate the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu by the Imo State chapter of the PDP.
The Rivers State Governor, therefore, called on Nigerians to ensure they vote out the APC at both the federal and state levels during the 2023 general elections.
“Nigerians are angry because the party (APC) at the national level is a failure. It’s a failure to the point that they are ruling Nigeria with tension. Ordinarily, to sign the Electoral Act, they keep on postponing it every day and Nigerians are tired.
“What they are doing is to postpone convention. A party that cannot hold a national convention is it a party that can rule Nigeria?
“Ordinary convention, a party in power cannot hold one. Look at how we did our own convention. That is to tell you that PDP is the party that should rule Nigeria. This is the party that will rule Imo State too,” Wike was quoted to have said according to a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri.
Speaking about Imo State, Wike also tackled the incumbent State Governor, Hope Uzodinma saying the situation where a man who came fourth during elections become the Governor will never happen again.
To this end, the Rivers State Governor called on all members of the PDP to settle their differences and work together to ensure victory for the PDP across all levels.
He said: “The only mistake that we will make to allow the man to come back is for us not to work together, and we will not make that mistake.
“Now, all of us must unite. If there is no party, there will be no governor. If there is no party, there will be no president.
“Let nobody fear, nobody can intimidate us. Can you be intimidated? All that time has passed when somebody that carried fourth will come first. It will never happen again.
“But if you want us to take back Imo State in the next election, all of us must work together. We are ready to support you to take back Imo State.”
Also, the statement quoted the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT), Senator Walid Jubril, as acknowledging the efforts of all stakeholders in the PDP and urging them not to relent particularly as the time draws nearer to save Nigeria through the polls.
