2023: Saraki Meets Ex-VP Sambo, Makarfi, PDP Bigwigs In Kaduna Over Presidential Ambition
The President of the 8th National Assembly, Bukola Saraki on Thursday consulted with Peoples Democratic Party bigwigs in Kaduna State over his presidential bid, Naija News reports.
Represented by his consultation tour chairman, Contact and Mobilization Committee of Abubakar Bukola Saraki for 2023 presidency, Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher and other members of the committee, including former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje and former Kwara State Governor, Sen. Mohammed Shaaba Lafiagi, the presidential aspirant said Nigerians are fed up with the incumbent government.
He stressed that Nigerians must vote out the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the 2023 general election, adding that the party has only come to inflict pain on the citizens.
Saraki said the country needs a leader that is young and vibrant that will ensure sanity in the system.
If given the mandate to rule the country, Saraki promised to heal the country from its present security and economic challenges.
Naija News understands that Saraki was in Kaduna where he consulted with former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, former governors of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Ramalan Yero and other stakeholders of the PDP for support on his 2023 presidential ambition.
In his address on behalf of the presidential aspirant, Hagher said the presidency of Saraki would be a double blessing for Nigeria.
He said the former lawmaker is a medical doctor, young and energetic who is ready to learn to the yearnings of the citizens and move the country forward in all spheres of life.
He explained, “We have met with former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Governor Ahmed Makarfi, former Governor Ramalan Yero, former and serving PDP Senators. They gave us permission to come and address the larger house in Kaduna. We are in PDP because APC is not a party to join.”
He further lampooned the APC administration, saying that the party is made up of strange bed fellows that came together to bring hardship on Nigerians through civilian dictatorship.
Responding, the Sate Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Hassan Hyat used the occasion to condemn the recent impeachment of the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, a PDP member, as well as state of security in the country.
