What Autopsy Of 19-Month-Old Pupil Flogged By Teacher Says

Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School student, Obinna Udeze who was flogged by his teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, revealed he died of septic shock.
Vanguard reports that the Delta State Police Command on Tuesday revealed the result of the autopsy carried out to ascertain the cause of death of Obinna Udeze, a 19-month-old pupil.
It would be recalled that little Udeze was purportedly flogged 31 strokes of the cane by his teacher.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the State, DSP Bright Edafe said the autopsy was conducted at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC in Asaba.
Edafe said, “The autopsy report indicates septic shock as the cause of death. That is what I can say, for now, let the medical doctors and lawyers interpret what that means.”
Recall, Emeka Nwogbo denied allegation that he flogged to death, 19-month-old child, Obinna Udeze.
Nwogbo, while being paraded by the police, told journalists that there must be other underlying issues that killed Udeze as he claimed the child didn’t die while he was being punished.
Nwogbo said he flogged the late Obinna as he ought to flog ’a baby’ and that the child was punished because he pushed another child.
“I did not cane the child to death, I flogged him as I’m supposed to flog a child. I flogged him as little as I can, I did not kill the child. I am not responsible for his death. They should go and check this thing very well. I flogged the child because he pushed another child and hit the other child’s head.”
However, Obinna’s mother, Gift Ohanezeze has insisted that her son died as a result of the flogging, pleading with the Delta State Government and the Police authority to ensure that justice was served on the matter.
She alleged that her son was tied like a goat while being flogged by the teacher.
