Special Report: IPOB Beats The Economy In Imo State
Mohammed Oluwatimileyin Taoheed reports,
The economic activities in Owerri, Imo State were greatly affected as a result of the order of sit-at-home issued by the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB.
Residents of Owerri told Track News Nigeria that the streets were empty.
John David Eze, who spoke to our correspondent, said it was because the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was to appear in court in Abuja. He noted that it is the fear of being attacked by the enforcers of the order should they attempt to come out.
Thus, economic activities came to a stop on Tuesday and only a few vehicular movements were seen in some parts of the state capital as observed by this Reporter.
Track News Nigeria travelled down to the ever bubbling streets of Wethedral, Tetlow, Akwakuma, Amakohia, Orji axis and Mbaise roads but they were now free.
Also affected were the roads of Owerri-Orlu, Owerri-Okigwe, Owerri-Aba and Owerri-Onitsha roads among others.
The transportation companies, fuel stations, banks as well as timber markets were all affected by the order of the sit-at-home of the IPOB.
All commercial places were shut down
