Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide’s council of elders has asked the organization’s president to send legal representation to the former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu’s trial in London, TrackNews reports.
In a letter titled “Travel of our illustrious son Senator Ike Ekweremadu” and addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan, the group stated that it was “ready to defend any honest and patriotic citizen whose right and freedom are being unjustly trampled anywhere in the world.”
Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chairman of the body’s Council of Elders, expressed delight at how the trial of Ekweremadu and his wife had progressed so far, saying “the truth is unfolding.”
According to the statement;
“We have no doubt that the truth will be revealed and our son and his wife will be vindicated. We are, however, delighted and deeply grateful for your support for your dear colleague and friend during this difficult time.”
The elders also prayed for divine healing for Ekweremadu’s ailing daughter.
