The governorship candidate of the opposition All Progressive Congress, APC, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, paid a visit to Abia State’s Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, at his Nkporo country home in Ohafia Local Government Area on Sunday afternoon, ahead of the 2023 elections.

The visit, according to Chief Emenike, was part of his ongoing state-wide consultations with the necessary stakeholders in the Abia project.

He stated that it was his intention to rally all well-meaning Abians, regardless of political affiliation, to help save the state.

Emenike explained that the input of all progressives in the state was required to repair the state, which he believes has been ruined by bad governance.

“What we are trying to do in Abia is organize a revolution for change,” he says. “No single man can do it alone.”

“Some people have been destroying Abia with bad governance over the years,” Emenike lamented, “yet there are those clapping and rejoicing over inept leadership and the stagnation of God’s Own State.”

He praised the Deputy Governor of Abia for making his community accessible with good roads, arguing that those in public office should always take advantage of opportunities to positively affect their environment.

Chief Emenike also praised the Deputy Governor for his humility and selflessness in serving the state in both the legislative and executive branches of government.

In response, the Deputy Governor stated that “Abia belongs to all of us,” emphasizing the importance of everyone being involved in state affairs.

“Whatever we can do to improve the state, we will do it together.”

“We must do everything possible to raise the bar (of development) in the state, and whoever does it has my support,” he said.

The Deputy Governor praised Chief Emenike for his candor.

Earlier, former Ohafia LGA Chairman Chief Uche Ogboso said Emenike was sent from God to save Abia.

“Abia State is one, and everyone in every part wants a change.” They want Abia to leave its current position and become a state that works for its people.”

He urged Chief Emenike to work with the Deputy Governor, who is Nkporo’s political leader, in order to gain the people’s support.
