The Niger Police Command has begun confiscating SPY license plates in the state of Niger.

This was stated in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abidun, on Friday in Minna.

“The total ban on the use of spy number plates across the country, regardless of whether they were authorized or not, as directed by Inspector-General of Police Alkali Usman,” he said.

“The Command would like to remind members of the public, particularly vehicle owners who are using approved or unapproved spy number plates, to discontinue use of such plates and to kindly return them to the nearest police station.”

Kuryas, the Commissioner of Police for Niger Command, directed the state’s Department of Operations, Area Commanders, and DPOs to begin enforcing the ban on Monday.

He specifically directed that all license plates recovered from vehicles found in violation of the ban be forwarded to command headquarters.

The Commissioner also urged vehicle owners to work with law enforcement and other security agencies to ensure that the law is followed.

According to him, the exercise was designed to strengthen the state’s internal security arrangements in order to create a more secure environment.
