According to the Kano State Police Command, a vehicle carrying 135 parcels of dried cannabis sativa leaves was apprehended (Indian Hemp).

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, made the announcement in Kano on Friday.

A police patrol team arrested the vehicle on Thursday in Damagiri village, Rogo Local Government Area, near the Kano-Katsina border.

According to him, the vehicle, an ash-colored Golf Saloon, was apprehended while under intelligence-led surveillance on its way to Kano from Katsina State.

“When the driver noticed the police, he sped away.” After a lengthy pursuit, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

“135 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp worth over N1.3 million were discovered in the vehicle during the search,” he said.

The investigation, according to Haruna-Kiyawa, revealed that the driver purchased and sold Indian hemp in the state.

The commissioner of police, according to the PPRO, directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Section, for a confidential investigation.
