Kaduna schools are closed due to allegations of minor defilement
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
The Kaduna State Government closed a private school, Ffad Goshen Academy, Gumei, along Zonkwa road in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following the alleged defilement of a four-year-old student by the school driver.
The driver has been arrested and is being held by police.
Journalists were told that the four-year-old girl had been violated on school grounds.
“The school proprietress wanted a cover-up because she works with the government and is very powerful,” Mr Tyinmvak Musa, the girl’s father, claimed.
Musa, the girl’s father, stated that she is his only daughter who wishes to learn to write.
He explained that his daughter was violated on June 10, 2023, and that the school’s proprietress, who was said to be working at the Kaduna Government House, had not visited his family since then.
“The proprietress said sympathizing with my family over our daughter’s plight would imply accepting that the girl was violated in her school,” he said. She even turned down an invitation from the police to settle the case amicably.
“My daughter is deaf and definitely deafening Around 6:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10, I loaded her onto the school bus with about three other children. Her mother became concerned when we did not see her around noon.
“However, the school bus returned around 2 p.m. and parked in front of our shop.” My wife went to meet our daughter at the bus stop. When I saw the girl, I knew something was wrong with her. She was touching her lower abdomen and bombom as I carried her from the mother, demonstrating how she had been slapped and penetrated by someone.
“Because she had just returned from school, we were curious as to who had done that to her at school.” We tried to feed her, but she refused. She eventually fell asleep. When she awoke, she rushed outside to urinate, but she urinated on her body, which worried me because she had never done that before.
“It dawned on us when my wife removed her pant and discovered a blood stain that someone had taken advantage of her condition to defile her.” That’s how we got through the night. Then we realized it was early morning.
“The next day, Saturday, June 11, we took her to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed she had been penetrated.” At the time, the doctor was attempting to push her womb back inside. The girl was wailing, yelling, and crying. As we were referred to the General Hospital in Kachia, tears streamed down our cheeks as another doctor confirmed the absence of hymen and loss of virginity.
“The doctor prescribed drugs and suggested six tests for us.” That happened on June 12th. We went straight to the house of the school’s proprietress, who claimed to be so powerful because she works in Government House, as we returned from the General Hospital in Kachia.
“She took my phone number and said she’d call us back.” We were transferring between the school and the hospital along the way. But, when we realized we weren’t making any headway, we called the cops.
“She didn’t seem concerned at all. She didn’t even bother calling the girl. The police then swooped in and arrested three school employees: the principal, our daughter’s class teacher, and the school bus driver. The principal suspect was later identified as the school bus driver.”
Bukola Ajao, a lawyer and rights activist, said the girl described someone slapping her, covering her mouth with her hand, and having sexual intercourse with her.
“I am following up on the case to ensure that the perpetrator receives justice.” The only suspect in the custody of the state police is the school bus driver. We were approached by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who directed us to the Gender Unit. “The case has been referred to the Legal Department,” said the lawyer.
The conclusion
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Hijaya Hafsat Baba, the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, said the school closure was to allow for a proper investigation into the matter, and that the state government would cover the cost of the girl’s correctional surgery as a result of her defilement.
“We felt bad because of the child’s circumstances,” the commissioner said. The girl is deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly dea We saw that she had been severely harmed. We took them to the hospital, where they would have corrective surgery.
“Because she is our girl, the Kaduna State government will bear responsibility for the surgery.” Because the school is still being investigated, it has been closed. That school will remain closed until all investigations are completed and we receive clearance from the court, because that girl deserves justice, and that is what we will provide.”
