APC National Women Leader, Idowu Bankole, receives 20,000 defectors in C/River

By Adeleye Kunle
ABOUT 20,000 people announced their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday in Adadama, Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State, the home of the National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu.
This information was revealed in a statement made available to Tracknews in Abuja.
The mass defection was said to be in support of “Edu’s unprecedented achievement and sterling performance since she emerged as the party’s national women’s leader.”
The State Party Chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, urged the defectors to continue working with their leader in order to reap the benefits of democracy.
He did, however, say that God has blessed the state with a leader like Dr. Betta Edu, and that anyone who refuses to work with her is wrong and devilish.
“Today, she has the Federal Government’s ears and attention, which is an added benefit to you and the entire State.” We welcome you wholeheartedly to this progressive party on behalf of our digital governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, and assure you that there are no newcomers or oldcomers in our party because we are all one and equal. Dr. Betta Edu has today finally collapsed the PDP structures in Abi LGA because I don’t see anyone left in PDP.” Professor Ivara stated.
Dr. Betta Edu, the APC National Woman Leader, assured defectors of equal rights and privileges within the party. “Because we are a progressive party, we treat everyone equally.” In making this decision, let me reassure you, my people, that my empowerment programs of free medical outreaches, renovation and upgrading of health facilities, payment of school fees for our children, and so on will continue. Furthermore, the registration fee for all our students eligible for WAEC has been paid, and this and many other things will continue.
“PDP is history, and I urge all of us to go get our PVCs and prepare to vote APC from top to bottom.” Campaigns will begin soon, and I have faith in my team to deliver as we have in the past and will do so again.” She continued.
Top government officials who joined Edu to welcome the defectors to the party included: Cross River State Deputy Governor Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, who represented the governor, Sen. Ben Ayade;
Barr. Alphonsus Eba, state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his deputy Prince Eka Williams; Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and APC Senatorial Candidate for the Central Senatorial District; and Rt. Hon. Farathor Robinson, Executive Chairman of the Abi Local Government Council
Other dignitaries in attendance included Sen. Abdullahi Adamu’s representative, Hon. Abdulazeez, the member representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency; Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Hon. Ofem Ebri Obeten, and his Calabar Municipality and Southern counterparts, Hon. Effefiong Eke and Hon. Esther Bassey.

Cynthia Nkasi, Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Prof. John Inyang, and Prof. Godwin Igile, Chairman of the Cross River State Waterboard, among others.
